Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has made a sensational return to WWE - but not everyone was impressed.

Logan Paul, once a good friend of The Rock, has mocked the return of the wrestling legend by comparing him to the Jersey Shore cast.

On Friday night, The Rock made a surprise return to Smackdown, his first WWE appearance in four years, coming face-to-face with old rival Austin Theory.

There was even a reunion with John Cena - that ended amicably when the two shook hands and embraced.

There have been rumours that there could be a Wrestlemania XL showdown with Roman Reigns next year in Philadelphia.

But while fans were sent into a frenzy, there was one dissenting voice.

Paul took to social media to sneer at The Rock's grand return, comparing those in the ring to the cast of Jersey Shore, who wore similar outfits in black tank tops.

He posted a tweet of the two pictures next to each other with the caption: "I’ve seen this before."

Having grown in popularity as a YouTube star, Paul has since joined the WWE roster after making his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38 in 2022.

However, there was once upon a time when Paul and The Rock used to be good pals.

Johnson would help Paul with his YouTube videos and the pair collaborated with several projects.

But that came to an end when Paul caused controversy when he explored the Aokigahara forest, also known as the Suicide Forest, in Japan in 2017.

After finding a suicide victim's body, he and his friends were criticised for treating the victim with disrespect.

Since then, The Rock distanced himself from Paul and his YouTube channel and declared that he would not work with him again.

Paul apologised for his actions but the damage had been done while American actor and comedian Kevin Hart, a mutual friend of both, explained that the friendship is over.

Speaking on Paul's podcast Impaulsive, Hart said: “The one thing you guys should definitely realise that I think the one thing that we should clear up right away...

"Dwayne would never do this because he’s not the same type of person right and I’m not calling him a bad person, in no way shape or form, but we’re saying stuff without saying.”

Whether Paul returns to the WWE remains to be seen as he prepares to face Dillon Danis in the boxing ring.

The 28-year-old will appear on the undercard of KSI's clash against Tommy Fury on October 14 at the Manchester Arena.
